Samuel Isett Dies at Age 87

Samuel B. Isett died at his home at Mt. Etna on May 18 at the age of 87. Death was due to infirmities incident to advanced years. He was well known throughout this section of the state and was especially prominent in Blair County. He was born at Arch Springs, Sinking Valley, in 1808.

Pay day at Carlim was followed by a large number of peddlers. The Cove Forge correspondent asked if some way could be found to stop this nuisance of peddlers annoying Carlim people.

A census for a city directory listed the population of Altoona at 35,502 within the city limits.

Miss Sue Replogle of Marla died at the home of her sister Mrs. D.J. Bole of Pittsburgh.

F.W. Keagy was erecting an iron portico to the second story front of the “yellow corner” in Martinsburg.

W.H. Bridenbaugh of Altoona was booked to deliver the Memorial Day address on May 30 in Martinsburg.

G.R. Earlenbaugh accepted a position as a clerk in the railroad office in Altoona.

Mrs. Henry Acker of Beavertown died at 74.
