Northern Bedford Dist. to Air Graduation Ceremony Tonight

District Plans Formal Ceremony for June or July at Stadium

Commencement exercises for the Northern Bedford County High School will be broadcast at 7 p.m. today, Thursday, May 28, on the school’s Facebook page and on the Only in the Cove website.

The broadcast will feature a commencement video of seniors receiving their diploma from their parents along with prerecorded commencement speeches.

Student speakers for the commencement program will be lan Gerald Sherlock, who will deliver the Class Welcome; Allyson Marlene Ritchey, who will offer the Class Address; and Sarah Grace Bowser, who will offer Closing Remarks.

Dr. Rich Mearkle, 1972 NBC alumnus, will address the Class of 2020.

A formal commencement exercise will occur at Panther Community Stadium on Tuesday, June 30 or Thursday, July 23, dependent upon social distancing restrictions. All academic awards and scholarships will be announced at the in-person commencement ceremony. More information will be shared prior to the summer ceremony.

The ministerium will produce a baccalaureate video to be shared via social media with seniors in place of the formal ceremony. Pastor Mark “Cappy” Lingenfelter of Hopewell Grace Brethren Church will preside and offer the invocation.
