Abandoned Cats Earns Claysburg Woman Citation for Animal Cruelty

A citation for cruelty to animals was issued by Greenfield Township Police to Cynthia R. Ayers, 46, formerly of Left Hand Gap Road, Claysburg.

Back in early May, a neighbor contacted Greenfield Township Police to report hearing meowing and scratching coming from an apartment that had been previously rented by Ayers.

Chief Ron Sharkey and Officer Paul Guttshall, an officer from the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, visited the apartment and found it vacated.

Sharkey said that there was no food or water left for the two cats believed to have been locked inside.
