According to a criminal complaint filed by the Roaring Spring Police, at approximately 8:16 p.m. on May 26, a maroon-colored Jeep Cherokee traveling south sped through a red light at the intersection of Woodbury Pike and Spang Street.
The officer followed the Jeep into the Turkey Hill parking lot and observed a male passenger, later identified as Torrein R. Crutcher, 32, of Altoona, go into the store with a backpack on his shoulder.
After learning that the registration was expired and the operator's registration was suspended, the officer called for backup and spoke with Amber Noel, the operator of the vehicle.
The officer noted a strong smell of marijuana and could see a marijuana cigarette in an ashtray cup in the cup holder.
When the other officer arrived, he was directed to search the store for Crutcher.
Crutcher was found in the men's restroom and was taken into custody.
Crutcher was being escorted outside of the Turkey Hill store but without the backpack he had carried into the store. It was found behind the trash can inside the men's room.
According to the police report, Crutcher admitted that the backpack and its contents were his and that nothing belonged to Noel.
Upon searching the backpack, police found four large plastic bags of marijuana, 31 packets of "potheads" edible cannabis dummies, a digital scale, multiple distribution packages, rolling papers, a grinder and a wallet containing multiple bank cards, all bearing Crutcher's name.
Police also recovered $417 in various bills and a Samsung Galaxy cellphone.
Crutcher was taken to the Roaring Spring Police Department where he wrote a voluntary statement, stating that all the marijuana items belonged to him including the backpack and the money.
It was also discovered that Crutcher had outstanding warrants.
Crutcher was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Matthew Dunio. He was committed to Blair County Prison, unable to post bail of $25,000.
A preliminary hearing is set for June 4 at the office of Magisterial District Judge Andrew J. Blattenberger.
