My Wife Said You May Want to Marry Me: A Memoir By Jason B. Rosenthal

Books to Borrow Martinsburg Public Library Recommends

This book is the quintessential love story. What makes it most touching is that it is a true story. A young Chicago lawyer, Jason Rosenthal, is set up on a date with the daughter of a family friend, Amy Krouse. She knows by the end of the evening that this is the man for her! It takes him a little longer.

During the 26 years of their marriage, Amy becomes a well-known author of more than 35 children's books, as well as the producer of many short films. Jason establishes his own law firm and also is involved in real estate. They raise three children, Justin, Miles and Paris. Everything about their lives seems to grow, thrive and just get better with time. Just as their daughter Paris is off to college, and they are adjusting to being empty nesters, Amy is diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Ten days before her death, Amy Krouse Rosenthal had an essay published in the New York Times titled "You May Want to Marry My Husband." It was a plan on a personal ad, encouraging her husband to find happiness after she died.

What follows is Jason's memoir in tribute to a wonderful life with a wonderful woman. It's a love story that touches on the theme of making the most of your time here and of being grateful for the gifts that life has brought you. This is a story of learning how to fill the blank spots that you thought you would be sharing with the one you love.
