The New Faces Of Library Services

The past few months have brought about many changes in our daily lives. Stay-at-home orders, the closure of schools, restaurants, fitness facilities and non-essential businesses have made us change how we do business and how we seek entertainment.

Until the Commonwealth fully reopens, the Roaring Spring Community Library has adapted services to fit those guidelines and best serve our community. Our priority is keeping everyone safe while still providing the necessary services that so many of you rely on. The library staff have been working hard behind the scenes to make sure that we are able to provide a safe way to access the library and library materials.

The Roaring Spring Community Library was fortunate to receive the We Care Blair County Grant. It is because of the efforts by Leadership Blair County Alumni that we are able to offer Book Beep Curbside Service, Front Porch Pick Up Service, and Walk Up Window Service. These services will be offered Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. with the first hour from 9 to 10 a.m. reserved for those patrons with underlying medical conditions and those over the age of 60. To ensure that everyone using our services stay happy and most importantly healthy we do ask that everyone utilizing these services wear a face covering and practice social distancing.

There are several different ways to request materials. To search and place requests via our online catalog, please visit https://roaringspring.sparkpa.org. You may also telephone the library at (814) 224-2994, message us on social media or email your request to info@roaringspringlibrary.org. Please be sure to include your name, preferred method of contact, and the titles you are requesting. You will be notified when your materials are ready to be picked up. All materials are sanitized before being placed in the bag along with the receipt indicating the due date of the borrowed materials. Patrons may also obtain photocopies, tax forms, and print documents via our Walk Up Window Service.

In addition to the above mentioned services, we are also offering our Pop Up Porch Library. This allows patrons to choose from a variety of books, magazines, DVDs and puzzles. These materials are extras from our Used Book Cellar and are not required to be checked out or returned but we do ask those using this service to be courteous of others and only take what they need. There are also a variety of children’s crafts available. These are updated weekly so be sure to check our social media pages for the week’s featured craft project.

Please feel free to contact the library with any questions regarding the new services.
