Blair DUI Task Force

On Saturday June 13, 2020, officers of the Blair DUI Task Force made their presence known locally by conducting a DUI roving patrol. The following results are from the detail:

• 67 individual contacts

• 60 citations or warnings issued for vehicular violations

• 1 impaired driving arrest

• 2 possession of controlled substance

• 2 possession of drug paraphernalia

Motor Vehicle Accident

Pennsylvania State Police, Bedford, reported that at 12:36 p.m. April 15, Carol D. Detwiler, 83 of New Enterprise, was traveling south on Woodbury Pike in a 2013 Chrysler 200 and stopped at the stop sign at the Raystown Road intersection. Detwiler pulled out from the stop sign and into the path of Adam W. Frankenberry, 20 of New Paris, who was driving a 2002 Honda Civic. Detwiler’s vehicle sustained disabling damage to the driver’s side and Frankenberry’s vehicle sustained disabling front end damage. Neither operator suffered any injuries.

Motor Vehicle Accident

Pennsylvania State Police, Hollidaysburg, reported that at 11:11 a.m. April 16, Louise E. Jamison, 70 of Saxton, was driving a 2010 Ford Fusion east on Cove Mountain Road in Taylor Township and traveled across the west bound shoulder striking a traffic sign and continued into a yard along the property at 4168 Cove Mountain Road for approximately 530 feet. Jamison then reentered the roadway and struck a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Dennis F. Kephart, 74 of Roaring Spring head on in the west bound lane. Jamison’s vehicle was towed from the scene and she was transported to Nason Hospital by AMED for possible injury.

Motor Vehicle Accident

Pennsylvania State Police, Hollidaysburg, reported that at 10:15 p.m. May 7, Jeremiah S. Clark, 24 of Williamsburg, lost control of his 2005 Nissan Pathfinder while traveling north along Clover Creek Road in Woodbury Township. The vehicle traveled off the roadway to the east and struck railroad ties continuing north through a private yard. The vehicle then struck a small tree, spun sideways and hit a mailbox and a street sign. Minor injuries were suspected but Clark refused transport by Hollidaysburg American Legion Ambulance Service.

DUI Arrest

Pennsylvania State Police, Bedford, reported that at approximately 7:52 p.m. May 25, Wayne Hoffman, 43 of Martinsburg, crashed his 2005 Honda motorcycle at Six Mile Run Road and Raystown Road in Broad Top Township. Hoffman was transported from the scene via Life Flight. Hoffman showed indicators of impairment prior to the flight. A search warrant was completed for Hoffman’s blood alcohol content and toxicology report. Hoffman was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on May 29 through Magisterial District Court 57-3-03.

Assault

Pennsylvania State Police, Hollidaysburg, reported that at approximately 3:40 a.m. May 26, PSP was notified by Blair County Prison that they were contacted by Brian Wayne Dick, 49 of Roaring Spring. BCP employees voiced concern about comments Dick made while speaking with them. Contact was made with Dick at his Roaring Spring address by PSP. During the course of the investigations Dick assaulted a trooper and resisted arrest. Dick was taken to the Blair County Prison on charges of aggravated assault, harassment, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.

Theft

Pennsylvania State Police, Hollidaysburg, were called to CS Trucking on Cove Mountain Road, Taylor Township. In the commission of the crime, unknown actor/actors entered the property and used a cutting device to cut the catalytic converter from a 2003 Ford F250 Supercab pickup truck located on the property and then fled the scene. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Trooper Roland at 814-696-6100.

Motor Vehicle Accident

Pennsylvania State Police, Hollidaysburg, reported at approximately 5:15 p.m. May 31, a 2010 Buick LeSabre driven by Matthew R. Heuston, 19 of Roaring Spring was traveling north on SR 36 and entered the left turn lane to travel on E. Pine Street. Heuston proceeded through the intersection without yielding for southbound traffic and hit the front end of a 2011 Ford Fusion driven by Jeremiah W. Feathers, 31 of Roaring Spring. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage. Neither driver was injured.

Endangering Welfare of Child

Pennsylvania State Police, Hollidaysburg, were called to respond to the Roaring Spring Commons at approximately 12:42 a.m. May 28. The caller woke up after hearing noises outside her apartment door. She discovered two young children ages 2 and 1 year, in the common area hallway of the building. The children were wearing nothing but diapers. She recognized them as the children belonging to her neighbor, Alyssa Shank, 28 of Roaring Spring. The caller began pounding on Shank’s door to notify her of the situation. After about 20 to 30 minutes of no response, she called 911. PSP was unable to get Shank to answer by knocking on the door. Troopers made entry into the apartment and discovered Shank asleep on her bed. The apartment was found to be in deplorable conditions with old food spilled and scattered throughout the apartment along with cat litter and feces. There was garbage on the floor of every room. It was obvious that the apartment was an unfit environment for any young child to reside in. Blair County Children and Youth were notified and Shank and the children were going to stay with a neighbor. Charges to be filed at District Court 24-3-04.
