Kenneth R. Mowry of Roaring Spring RD 1 had been appointed as the regional director for Region V office, to oversee the Department of Agriculture’s inspectors and services for 10 counties – Clearfield, Centre, Mifflin, Juniata, Huntingdon, Fulton, Bedford, Somerset, Cambria and Blair counties. He was owner and operator of Mowry Farms, a 1,100-acre, 250 cow dairy farm.
The incoming officers for the Roaring Spring Business and Professional Women’s Club were Kristen Hall, president, Brenda Fluke, first vice president; Sandra Batzel, second vice president; Ginger Eicher, recording secretary; Melissa Bookhammer, corresponding secretary; and Sue Ann Feather, treasurer.
The marshal for the agricultural parade in Martinsburg was Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture Charles C. Brosius of West Grove, Chester County.
Patrick Albright of Martinsburg RD 2 hit a hole-in-one at the Bedford Springs Golf Club on June 25. He buried the shot on Hole No. 10 with a pitching wedge. The hole was par 3 and 109 yards.
