Woodbury Council Still Has Open Mayor Position

Woodbury Borough Council held its monthly meeting on Monday, July 6.

Wayne Brumbaugh, who considered the open mayor’s position, was in attendance but declined.

Brumbaugh is interested in the role of Majority Inspector. He told council he will investigate the position more and make his decision.

Joel Pote from the water authority attended the meeting. Pote wanted to advise the council that when paving is complete on the Lower Alley, risers will need to be in place.

A draft was received on the Sidewalk Ordinance that is being reviewed and updated by council. This will be sent back to the attorney to add materials that may be used if repairs of a sidewalk are needed.

Judith Ott was asked to give an update on the 2020 Census. Ott explained the Census is currently utilizing outside pavilions at parks and communities to meet one-on-one with people who were hired to provide training. This operation will continue for a while.

A draft is being sought on a wood furnace burning ordinance. Various ordinances were reviewed from neighboring communities that are in place. Council will continue to work on this.

Council Secretary Barb Wilt shared with council information on the passing of a previous councilmember. George Snyder passed away on July 4 in Crawfordsville, Ind. Snyder served the community as a councilmember for many years.

The Bedford County Association of Municipalities is making some new agreements with municipalities and is asking for continued representation from borough council.

Council discussed the possibility of having a clean-up day as it has had in the past. This request came from a community member. Council talked and will need more discussion on this subject. Electronics were a problem in the past and more information is needed on how these would or could be disposed of.

Council will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3.
