Lien Cancelled Against Williamsburg Dollar General

Series: Williamsburg | Story 87

After a $42.90 snow shoveling bill turned into a bill of $3700 of legal fees, the Dollar General, Williamsburg will not be going through to a sheriff’s sale because of payment according to Williamsburg Borough Solicitor Nathan Karn during the July 7 borough council meeting in Williamsburg. The owners paid the bill thus closing the lien.

Stiffler-McGraw engineer Jon Clabaugh sent the borough manager an email in regards to renewing the Highway Occupancy Permit for the work on State Route 866, which was to be started and completed, but then was cancelled by PennDOT. The borough decided there was no need to renew for permit, as officials have no idea when PennDOT will give new plans/answers for the possible project.

During last month’s meeting, it was announced that the Borough’s Worker’s Compensation had given recommendations on some employee policies. Jim Foreso said that the Personnel and Finance Committee met, and “no major changes” were made; there were some additions to consequences for DUIs and receiving more than two speeding tickets.

There was an executive session during the meeting to discuss land acquirement for the borough. Bruce Hamilton made the motion to instruct Borough Manager Joe Lansberry to contact Stiffler-McGraw to do an environmental study on proposed land; Don Zimmerman seconded the motion; the motion passed.
