High School Football Completes Golf Outing

The annual Golf Outing held by the Central Pa. Football Coaches Association was conducted on Sunday, July 12, at the Huntingdon Country Club. It was the biggest turnout in 20 years. Of the 80 golfers, the format was broken down into two flights.

The winners were from Juniata Valley, edging out a group from the Altoona Mirror and Huntingdon. Steve Taylor, Mike Galloway, Tim Kessling and Joe Friday won by one stroke over their rivals. Second place fell to Mike Boytom, Doug Davino (Altoona Mirror), Dave Fyock and Ed Strickler (from Huntingdon).

In the Second Flight was a group from the Penns Valley region which included Rob Irwin Jr., Matt Myers, Shawn Hallahan and Terrance Green. They won the second flight over a group from Bellwood (Nick Lovrich Sr., Nick Lovrich Jr., Shawn Lovrich and Rick Kensinger).

There were four closest to the pins that included Joe Friday, Bryant Partner, Jim Oscar and Matt Myers. The group of golfers met at a socially distanced meal afterwards.

Before the event got started, Rob Irwin cited South co-coach of the year, Nick Lovrich from Bellwood. The weather cooperated and the event was successful with raising of money that will go to high school football players this coming school year.
