The thermometer at the Morrisons Cove office at the Mid-State Bank & Trust Co., Martinsburg, showed 112 degrees. The Flight Data Center at Blair County Airport reported 98 degrees. Area residents just knew it was extremely hot on Saturday, July 15, and were trying to stay as cool as possible. The Hershberger Memorial Pool in Martinsburg had 684 total admissions for Saturday. The airport reported highs of 90 degrees on July 13 and 93 degrees on July 14.

The new Little Miss Roaring Spring for 1995 was Heidi Hinton, 7-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Hinton. Kirstin Nicole Ritchey, 9, daughter of Ronald and Barbara Ritchey, was runner-up.

Mrs. Patricia A. Riley was installed as worthy matron and Leonard L. Bennett, past patron, was installed as worthy patron of Williamsburg Chapter, 538, Order of the Eastern Star.

James Hale was installed as president of the Cove Lions Club.

Kevin W. Smith, a 1984 graduate of Central High School, was promoted to the rank of staff sergeant in the Air Force.
