Gary M. Anders of East Freedom, a member of Ray-Camp Post 7689, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Roaring Spring, was installed as the state junior vice-commander of the Pennsylvania Department of VFW. The Pennsylvania Department of VFW was the largest state VFW organization in the United States with 110,000 members and 500 posts.

Morrisons Cove Memorial Park officials and volunteers canvassed Martinsburg Borough last month to collect information that would help the board of directors’ Development Committee in its year-long needs assessment study. Residents were asked a series of questions on June 5 as part of the “walk and talk” campaign called “Oakley Wants to Know. . .” The information gathered would be a part of the needs assessment of the community that would guide future planning and funding development for the park. The park would celebrate its 90th birthday in 2011.
