CHALMER 'JAY' CLAAR

Queen

Chalmer "Jay" Claar, 84, of Queen, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at home.

He was born on Feb. 13, 1936, in Queen, son of the late Clyde and Mildred (Hainsey) Claar. He married Lana Grimes on May 26, 1978, in Winchester, Va.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Rodney Claar and wife Wendy; two granddaughters: Amber Claar Davis and husband Garret and Ronette Claar and fiancé Tristan Lingafelt; a niece, Diane Clapper; and five nephews: Alan, Rocky, Brian, Eric and Wade Claar.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Fred, Donald "Frog" and Joel Claar.

Jay was a 1954 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School and a member of Queen United Methodist Church. He retired in 1998 from Blank Book Co. and previously owned and operated a Homelite Dealership in Queen from 1973 to 1980.

Jay was a member of the Beaver Run Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed working on small engines, going to his granddaughter's ball games, camping in Potter County, flea markets and hanging out on Carey Langham's porch.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment at Greenfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to the Queen United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
