Will Columns Be Fact-Checked?

To the Editor:

I have been an avid reader of your local paper for a number of years, having married a girl from the Cove. Many times I have felt like sending a response to various letters, but never really found the need until this week.

I find it quite ironic that the editor has now taken the privilege of fact checking a recent column written by Linda Williams that appeared in the June 25, 2020, edition of the Herald. Is this new “service” going to be enforced on all columnists and letters to the editor?
