Mill to Reopen

Herald of Aug. 16, 1945

The news of the Japanese surrender Tuesday evening was gladly received by the people of the Cove.

Just after 7 o’clock the Martinsburg fire siren started to scream, quickly followed by the blowing of whistles and ringing of church and school bells.

Up until midnight joy was unconfined. Townsmen got out their cars and went tooting over the streets.

The 105-year-old mill located at the cross roads in Loysburg has been leased by Robert A. Ferree of Bedford and will open its doors on Sept. 1. The mill was built in 1836 by Mr. Loy.
