G-field Extends Keystone Opportunity Zone

The Greenfield Township Board of Supervisors held their regular monthly meeting on Aug. 4.

The board approved a resolution to extend the Keystone Opportunity Zone for 33.6 acres of undeveloped property in the Walter Business Park until 2027.

Township supervisors tentatively designated special CDBG coronoavirus funds toward the installation of touchless restroom fixtures at the Claysburg Area Community Park and Greenfield Community Center. Any excess funding would be used for housing rehabilitation.

The board discussed hiring an additional staff member to the highway department to assist with winter maintenance.

Background checks and interviews will be conducted for applicants seeking employment with the police department.

Decisions to hold the township’s annual clean-up day and trick-or-treat were tabled until later meetings.

Supervisors considered whether a new study of the township’s floodplain maps could be beneficial in reducing flood insurance rates. No action was taken.

Conditional approval was granted for land development plans for projects located along Packard St. and Buttermilk Hollow Road as well as a lot merger on Churchview Circle.

Closed door meetings were held by the board on July 17 to discuss a contract position and on July 21 to discuss a grant for the community park.
