Putting cows on the front page since 1885.
The 1954-55 Williamsburg High School boys' basketball team finished with a record of 22-3 and captured the Juniata Valley league title for only the second time in school history. As I walked into the Williamsburg High School gymnasium recently for a boys' District 6-A semi-final playoff game, showcasing Saltsburg and the Blue Pirates, it was my privilege to run into an old friend and fellow WHS "alum," Ed Allender (1955).
I had an immediate flashback to the 1954-55 Juniata Valley League championship team that Ed made a major contribution to. Interestingly, the "Allender" family lived directly across the street from the front entrance to the high school, an easy commute across West Third Street.
