Hog Rescued from Cistern

A stray hog in his perambulations around town trespassed upon private ground, wandered up to the edge of a cistern, lost his balance and tumbled in. Responding to his squeals, several men rescued him.

One of Taylor Township’s oldest and well respected citizens passed down the valley of the shadow of death and is now at rest in the city of the blest. Christian C. Hainley died at his old home near Roaring Spring. He was born, married and died within an area of two miles. He and the former Barbara Snowberger were the parents of 13 children.
