Fredericksburg, Rural Martinsburg

Robert B. "Bob" Miller Sr., 94, of Fredericksburg, rural Martinsburg, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 1, 2020, at AristaCare at Woodland Park, Orbisonia.

He was born March 9, 1926, in Henrietta, son of the late William Lloyd and Florence Mae (Horton) Miller. On Sept. 11, 1947, he married Geraldine T. Campbell in Cumberland, Md.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 72 years; five grandchildren: Aaron K. (Jennifer) Miller and Lee C. (Carrie) Miller, both of Saxton, Lucas R. (Lisa) Miller of Cresson, Derek S. (Tara) Shaffer of State College and Dana M. (Allen) Saylor of Pennsylvania Furnace; 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Glenn A. and Spencer L. Miller.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert B. Miller Jr.; a daughter, Patricia D. (Miller) Shaffer; two sisters: Evelyn Diehl and Marjorie Sager; and two brothers: William F. and James E. Miller.

Bob was a 1944 graduate of Woodbury High School and a longtime member of Henrietta Church of God. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving for the 617th Field Artillery Observation Battalion in Italy as a radio operator, attaining the rank of Technician 5th Grade.

He retired as an automobile mechanic in 2000 working for both Querry Motors and Querry's Garage in Martinsburg, with more than 30 years of total service. Bob loved spending time with family and friends and also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crocheting and taking walks.

A private memorial service with military honors will be held at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg (bolgerfuneralhome.com).

Memorial contributions in memory of Bob can be given to Martinsburg Vol. Fire Company Station #80, 205 S. Market St., Martinsburg, PA 16662.
