DELORES J. 'PINKY' MCDOWELL

Martinsburg

Delores J. “Pinky” McDowell, 90, of Martinsburg, formerly of McKee, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, Sept. 23, 2020, at UPMC Altoona, following 90 years of amazing life.

She was born June 7, 1930, in McKee, the daughter of the late Charles Frederick and M. Josephine (Green) Emeigh. She married Melvin D. “Mac” McDowell on Jan. 23, 1951, in McKee.

She is survived by four sons: Melvin C. McDowell and wife Ellen of Everett, C. James McDowell of Martinsburg, with whom she resided, Daniel E. McDowell and wife Robin of Martinsburg and William D. McDowell and wife Becky of Saxton; a daughter-in-law, Sue McDowell of Duncansville; three grandchildren: Jared and wife Sybil, Colleen and husband Jesse and Ryan; a great granddaughter, Addy; a special friend who she considered her sixth son, Phillip Snare; two special little girls who she considered like grandchildren, Brynlee and Aryanna; and many nieces and nephews, including her namesake, DeDe McCreary.

She was preceded in death by a son, Russell W. McDowell, who passed away Nov. 13, 2016; and a sister, Sara Garber.

Pinky was a member of New Life Alliance Church, East Freedom, and she was a 1949 graduate of Altoona Area High School.

She enjoyed reading her daily devotionals, crossword puzzles and loving on her dog, Taco.

A funeral was held Monday, Sept. 28, 2020, at New Life Alliance Church, East Freedom. Pastor Ed Jelliff officiated.

Interment was made in Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Pinky’s memory may be given to the New Life Alliance Church, c/o 713 Walnut St., Roaring Spring, PA 16673.
