The Central High School cross country teams hosted Williamsburg on Oct. 6.

Williamsburg’s girls’ team improved to 4-0 with a 12-24 win over Central. CHS won the boys’ race, 15-50.

Kelsie Butler led the Lady Pirates with a first-place finish in 24:06. Teammate Hannah Brenneman finished second in 26:51. Rounding out the top five finishers were Central’s Maia Jeffries (28:16) and Williamsburg’s Eliza Mock (33:46) and Bailey Detwiler (36:51).

Central’s Tyler Biesinger won the boys’ race with a time of 20:48. Finishing second through seventh place for the Dragons were Cayden Wright (21:07), Michael James (22:09), Walker Eckenrode (22:29), Ethan Dilling (23:31), Dylan Ceschini (23:28) and Ian Crilly (24:06). Taking eighth through 10 place were Williamsburg’s Levi Hoover (24:43), Garrett Nicewonger (24:50) and Ethan Watkin (25:21).

At Philipsburg-Osceola on Oct. 8, the Central boys’ squad defeated P-O, 25-34, but lost to Bellefonte, 16-45. In girls’ action, Bellefonte beat CHS, 15-50, and P-O defeated the Lady Dragons, 15-50.

Tyler Biesinger placed seventh (21:18) to lead the Central boys’ team. Cayden Wright finished in ninth place (21:29).

NBC/WHS

The Northern Bedford High School cross country teams each won two meets Oct. 8.

The Lady Panthers defeated Williamsburg, 16-20, and Mount Union, 25-30. The NB boys won against Mount Union, 24-31, and Williamsburg, 17-38. WHS girls beat Mount Union, 22-33, while MU defeated the WHS boys, 15-46.

NB’s Emilee Sherlock won the girls’ race with a time of 21:50. Also placing in the top 10 for the Lady Panthers were Harley Socie (third, 23:26) and Hailey Bollman (fourth, 25:32).

Kelsie Butler led the Lady Pirates with a second-place finish in 22:07. Also in the top 10 for WHS were Hannah Brenneman (fifth, 25:36), Maddie Mikesic (sixth, 28:06) and Eliza Mock (ninth, 32:20).

In the boys’ meet, NB’s Connor Laird and Ian Zimmerman placed 1-2. Their times were 18:46 and 18:49, respectively. Kadin O’Neal was fifth, (19:35) for NB, while teammate Nick Strayer placed sixth (19:47).

Garrett Nicewonger led WHS with a 10th-place finish in 21:23.
