Just a year and a day after the fine old Colonial dwelling on the Irvin Wareham farm in Taylor Township had been destroyed by fire, the large barn on the Elmer F. Smith farm, which adjoins the Wareham farm, on Friday afternoon was burned to the ground.

The 9-room solid brick mansion home on the Wareham farm was burned down on Oct. 18 of last year. It was built during the Civil War period by the Jacob Martin family.

The barn on the Smith farm likewise came down from the Civil War era, erected by the McMasters, widely known farmers and barn builders of long ago.
