Claysburg Woman Jailed After One-Vehicle Accident Oct. 16

A Claysburg woman is behind bars following a traffic accident on Oakdale Rd., near Dunnings Highway.

According to the police affidavit, Greenfield Township Police were dispatched at 3:15 p.m. Oct. 16, to Oakdale Road for a reported one-vehicle accident that ended with a vehicle in a ditch.

The passengers in the vehicle were identified as the boyfriend of the driver and his three-year-old son.

A witness to the accident removed the child who was unrestrained, from the backseat of the vehicle and took him across the street for safety reasons.

The officers were told that the driver, Holly Nicholle Feathers, 33 of Claysburg, would be right back.

Feathers returned to the scene in a blue vehicle.

Feathers stated that she was driving the vehicle and that she turned left onto Oakdale Rd. from Penndale Ave. She said that she was driving towards Dunnings Highway and crossed over to the other sided of the roadway and her tires drove onto the shoulder of the road.

Feathers claims to have attempted to correct her course but was unable to. Feathers lost control of her vehicle, crossed the road and drove into the ditch rolling onto the roof of the vehicle.

A witness to the accident stated that she saw the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and began fishtailing several times crossing the road and into the ditch.

The witness also stated that the child in the backseat of the vehicle was not restrained.

Freedom Township Police were called to assist and performed a field sobriety test on Feathers who showed signs of impairment.

Feathers admitted to shooting heroine earlier in the afternoon.

A search of the vehicle turned up two pill bottles, a needle in the glove box, several pills, needles inside her purse and empty clear baggies inside the passenger door compartment.

Upon further inspection, police found two and one half pills of suboxone, two bundles (10 packs) and two loose bags stamped "Jaguar" which Feathers advised were heroine, along with over-the-counter medications.

Feathers is charged with a third-degree felony of endangering the welfare of children, 24 misdemeanor drug offenses and four summary traffic offenses.

Unable to post the $25,000 bail, Feathers is in Blair County Prison awaiting her Oct. 29 preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Andrew L. Blattenberger.
