Kenneth Weaver of Martinsburg, long-time owner of Martinsburg Milling Co., was honored by the Blair County Chamber of Commerce with the 1995 ACE Award at the annual farm-city dinner Oct. 19. Weaver was recognized for his nearly 40 years of service to Blair County agriculture and the community.
Volunteers with the Martinsburg Booster Association erected a “Welcome to Martinsburg” sign at the west end of the borough. Dr. Stephen P. Schon donated the site for the sign near his office. Booster members were also considering erecting similar signs at other main entrances to Martinsburg.
The New Enterprise Church of the Brethren was scheduled to host the Middle District Church of the Brethren Conference on Oct. 27 and 28.
Martinsburg native David Steele accepted a call from Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren to be its pastor of youth ministries. Pastor Steele, son of Kenneth and Dorothy Steele of Martinsburg, was serving as pastor of Bakersfield (Calif.) Church of the Brethren.
