Senator Warren G. Harding of Ohio has been elected to the presidency of the United States, carrying with him to victory his running mate, Governor Calvin Coolidge of Massachusetts, and practically the entire Republican senatorial ticket.

The total loss of actual or potential lives on account of the World war is put at nearly forty million in an estimate just furnished to the American Red Cross. Of this total, however, it is estimated that something more than one-half is represented by unborn children.
