Hunting Accident Kills One

Herald of Nov. 26, 1920

The Barrens a mile north of Mines was the scene of a hunting accident on Saturday when Samuel F. Harker was accidentally shot by John Miller of Hollidaysburg.

Miller fired at a pheasant and the charge entered the body of Harker who was some distance away, the shot causing death. The dead man was aged 30 years and made his home with his father, Jacob Harker.

Kathlein Heit, 9-year-old daughter of Capt. and Mrs. George Heit, died on the way to the hospital as a result of a gunshot wound sustained in an unusual way. The girl had been visiting at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Heit of Snake Spring Valley, and was being taken home by her father. A loaded gun in the car exploded and the charge hit the girl about a knee.

Mr. J. M. Greaser and Miss M. Hazel Nagle, well known young people of Martinsburg, were united in marriage on Wednesday morning at the parsonage of the First Brethren church by the pastor, Rev. J.I. Hall.
