Leaf Collection Begins at Memorial Park

The annual tradition of leaf collection from the magnificent oak trees that adorn Morrisons Cove Memorial Park in Martinsburg started in earnest Tuesday, Nov. 10. In preparation for the 2020 season, the park purchased a new Billy Goat Leaf Vacuum from McCoy's Lawn & Garden in Roaring Spring and a new dump trailer from Metzler's Truck and Trailer Sales in Martinsburg. The leaf collection process typically takes seven to 10 days to complete and results in roughly 50 box truck loads of mulch moved to the Martinsburg compost pile.
