Wind Fells Tree in Clappertown

A wind storm that blew through the region Sunday, Nov. 15, brought down a tree that came close to destroying a home in Clappertown. The home of Peter and Karen Filan suffered some damage at approximately 4:30 Sunday afternoon. No one was injured but the roof suffered some damage as well as the porch. Karen Filan said the tree was from the next door neighbor's yard. She said the family has started to clean up the debris.
According to the National Weather Service, the wind speed at the Altoona-Blair County Airport on Sunday reached 40 mph, with gusts recorded at 63 mph.
