Soldier Was in 7 Countries

Sgt. Kenneth F. Henry, son of Mr., and Mrs. R.F. Henry of Loysburg, who had been recently discharged from the service, was employed in Washington, D.C., at the National Airport for the Pennsylvania Central Airlines, as an aircraft instrument technician. Sgt. Henry had been in the service since Dec. 15, 1941, and spent most of his two years in the States in Army schools. Twenty-two weeks were spent at Chanute Field, Ill., studying aircraft mechanic work; three months at Glendale, Calif., studying gyrographic instruments; and six weeks studying aircraft electricity at Randolph Field in Texas. He served 22 months in the European theatre of operations, specializing in gyrographic instruments, and had seen service in Scotland, England, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland and Germany. He was awarded four bronze battle stars for the campaign of Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland and Central Germany. He received commendation fro the late President Roosevelt for his part in the battle of the Bulge, and also from General Patton.
