Pfc. J. Homer Reasy of New Enterprise, who had served in north Africa and Italy, was discharged from the Army after 31 months of duty. He served with the 338th Engineers Regiment, a construction unit which erected hospitals for crippled and wounded soldiers. One of the largest jobs of the regiment was rebuilding the port of Leghorn in Italy. Leghorn was the third largest port in Italy and was used for unloading millions of tons of supplies for the American troops in Italy.
