Rural Williamsburg

David E. Corle, 83, of rural Williamsburg, passed away unexpectedly Sunday evening, Nov. 22, 2020, at his home.

He was born Jan. 26, 1937, in Williamsburg, son of the late H. Clifford and G. Alverta (Sollenberger) Corle. On July 6, 1956, he married Virginia Dawn Hileman in Williamsburg.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 64 years; a son-in-law, Norman W. "Skip" Shock of Williamsburg; four grandchildren: A. Troy Shock of Williamsburg, Jeremy A. Shock of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., James N. Shock of Williamsburg and Shana L. Connors of Pittsburgh; five great-grandchildren: Zach Shock, Alex Shock, J.J. Shock, Rhett Shock and Thora Connors; a special niece, Anna M. Gibboney of Williamsburg; and many other extended family that he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda D. Shock; and a sister, Doris Ann Wyland.

Dave was a 1954 graduate of Williamsburg High School and later completed carpentry trade school. He began his career with West Virginia Pulp & Paper, Covington, W.Va., later transferring to Williamsburg, where he retired as a maintenance mechanic from Mead Westvaco, following almost 40 years of service.

He was a member of Williamsburg Church of the Brethren, a longtime active member of Williamsburg Lions Club and also a faithful donor and volunteer for the American Red Cross.

Dave loved spending time with his family, eating out at Dave's Dream, Hollidaysburg, and also enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and boating.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private graveside service will be held at Presbyterian Cemetery, Williamsburg, Brother Thomas Hanks will officiate.

Memorial contributions in memory of Dave may be given to Williamsburg Lions Club, 510 W. Third St., Williamsburg, PA 16693; the American Red Cross, 415 Orchard Ave., Suite 1, Altoona, PA 16602; or the Williamsburg Church of the Brethren, 529 W. Third St., Williamsburg, PA 16693.
