Driving snow, howling winds and frigid temperatures were what many people remembered from the storm that was being referred to as “The Blizzard of 1996.” The storm roared up the East Coast, dumping up to three feet of snow in Kentucky, Virginia, Washington, D.C., West Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. Unofficial tabulations in the Cove estimated the snowfall at between 18 and 24 inches. Many people reported up to 30 inches.
