GERALD B. SLICK

Roaring Spring

Gerald B. Slick, 78, of rural Roaring Spring, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring, PA, following several months of multiple medical complications resulting from COVID-19 and a 10-year battle with prostate cancer that appeared to be in a somewhat remissive state at the time of his death.

He was born May 5, 1942, in Roaring Spring, son of the late Benjamin H. Slick and Beatrice N. (Smith) Slick. On Aug. 19, 1967, in St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Roaring Spring, he was united in marriage to Nancy J. Corle.

He is survived by his first wife, Nancy of 53 years; a special son, Mark Gerald Slick; and a sister Nancy Furry (husband, Dwight).

Gerald was a 1960 graduate of Roaring Spring High School and served as a proud member of the Air Force National Guard of Pennsylvania for six years. Gerald and his wife, Nancy, attended Leamersville Grace Fellowship Church.

Gerald owned Slick Real Estate, Insurance, and Appraisal Business. He was also co-owner of Coldwell Banker/Stover-Slick Realty and C&S Family Markets of Claysburg and Martinsburg. All of which he gladly served the local communities for many years.

Gerald served 20 years on the Northern Bedford County School Board, majority of which he served as president of the board. He served seven years on the Appalachian IU8 Board of Directors and was a board member of the Bedford Grange Mutual Insurance Company. Gerald also was a member of the Board of Directors and Multiple Listing Service of the Allegheny Highland Association of Realtors for more than 40 years. He was a lifetime member of the North Woodbury Grange, where he served and held many offices, including some at the State Grange Level.

Gerald loved traveling, playing golf, attending home Penn State Football games with his beloved wife Nancy, working on his farm, riding his horse, and especially being with his family and doing activities with his son, Mark.

Gerald truly loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His greatest goal in life was to receive God's blessings so he could share these blessings, along with God's peace, joy and unconditional love with all those around him. He was a very loving and caring husband and father and will be greatly missed.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private service will be held at John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg, and celebration of life service is being planned for a later date. Private interment will be held at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona.

Memorial Contributions in memory of Gerald may be given to Leamersville Grace Fellowship Church, building fund, 14 Brethren Lane, Duncansville, PA 16635 (https://gracefellowship.online/giving).
