Lady Dragons Fall to Tyrone, Clearfield

The Central High School girls’ basketball team opened its season Jan. 20 with a 62-29 loss at Tyrone.

The Lady Eagles stormed out to a 37-17 halftime lead and extended it to 60-23 through three quarters.

Juniors Leah Johnston and Katheryn Longenecker each scored nine points for Central. Junior Carly Dixon added eight points, including two 3-pointers.

Clearfield 60, CHS 56

At Clearfield on Jan. 21, the hosts hung on for a 60-56 win over Central.

Clearfield led 14-12 after one quarter, 28-25 at halftime and 44-39 through three quarters.

Senior Kacie Kreider sank four of Central’s seven 3-pointers on the night and finished with 15 points. Junior Leah Johnston hit for 14 points, while junior Bailey Heuston and freshman Bralyn Ellis added nine and eight points, respectively. Junior Carly Dixon hit two 3-pointers and finished with six points.

Clearfield outscored Central 23-15 at the foul line.
