Central Girls Extend Streak to 5

Central High’s defense held Philipsburg-Osceola to single-digit scoring in all four quarters, and the Lady Dragons cruised to a 53-26 victory Feb. 8.

Central raced to a 23-6 lead after one quarter and 33-12 at halftime. The Lady Dragons had a 20-14 scoring edge in the second half.

Senior Kacie Kreider drained four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points to pace Central. Junior Katheryn Longenecker tallied 11 points.

• Central 61, Bald Eagle Area 43: The Lady Dragons evened their record at 4-4 following their third straight victory, 61-43 at Bald Eagle Area on Feb. 11. Trailing 30-27 at halftime, Central dominated the second half, outscoring the host team 34-13, including 23-5 in the final eight minutes.

Central junior Leah Johnston tied for game-high honors with 15 points. Junior Katheryn Longenecker dropped in 13 points, and junior Bailey Heuston added 10.

• Central 57, Clearfield 39: Host Central jumped out to a 29-15 lead at halftime en route to a 57-39 win over Clearfield on Feb. 12. The Lady Dragons edge Clearfield 28-24 in the second half.

Junior Katheryn Longenecker poured in a game-high 20 points, including two 3-pointers, to lead Central. Junior Bailey Heuston added 14 points, and freshman Bralyn Ellis contributed 10.

• Central 52, Everett 40: The Lady Dragons (6-4 overall) ran their winning streak to five games with a 52-40 win over visiting Everett on Feb. 13. Leading 29-24 at the break, Central had a 23-16 scoring advantage in the second half.

Central juniors Leah Johnston and Katheryn Longenecker (three 3-pointers) tied for game-high honors with 16 points each. Freshman Bralyn Ellis added 10 points.
