East Freedom
Ralph G. Summers, 80, of East Freedom, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at UPMC-Altoona. He was born May 21, 1940, in Martinsburg, son of the late Melvin and Kathryn (Grabill) Summers. He married Arlene Eckard July 30, 1960, in Oakland, Md.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter Tammy Donivan (Douglas) of Roanoke, Va .; three sons: Ralph H. (Lena) of Huntingdon, Stephen (Nicole) of Seattle, Wash. and Jonathan (Kiera) of Kittanning; seven grandchildren: Dennis, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Evalyn, Annette, Sarah and Sierra; three great grandchildren: Brooklyn, Carson and Aiden; five brothers: Wayne (Nancy), Walter (Victoria), Bill, Charlie (Peggy) and Richard and three sisters: Janet Pheasant (Gerald), Joann Defibaugh and Linda Ayers (Denny).
He was preceded in death by three brothers: John, Herbert and Harold.
Ralph was a member of Dry Run Independent Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, usher and with scripture assembly. He retired as manager of store support from Sheetz in 2011 after 20 years of service.
Ralph was a member of the NRA and enjoyed gardening, flowers, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.
A funeral was held Saturday, March 27, at Dry Run Independent Baptist Church. Pastor John Leatherman officiated. Interment was held at Dry Run Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Beacon of Truth Baptist Ministries/Scripture Assembly at his church.
