Southern Cove Power Reunion Hosts Consignment Auction

Saturday April 3, more than 300 folks showed up for a Southern Cove Power Reunion auction.

Mark Wisecarver, auctioneer, handled a lively auction with many items to be auctioned. Wisecarver conducted the auction from the back of his pickup truck, as he usually does.

Auctioned items included tractors, a buggy, bikes, all types of tools and machinery. Also, a new chicken coop, file cabinets, fencing, swings, fishing rods, buckets of nails, assorted dog cages, ice cream makers and many other items.

Tom Yingling from Clover Creek Road, Fredericksburg, brought a large amount of truck parts and tools. Yingling said that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he lost his job and selling items helps to provide income.

John Glass from Clappertown said that he was pleased with his purchase of a large swing with a roof over the top.

Breakfast sandwiches and other items were able to be purchased from the kitchen. Folks were laughing and enjoying being outside in the brisk air attending this event.

Southern Cove Power Reunion Updates

Folks can look forward to some cosmetic changes if they attend the activities for the Southern Cove Power Reunion tractor pulls this year.

At this month's Power Reunion regular meeting, plans were continued to cement the pavilion floor before May and to update the bleachers to make seating more comfortable.

Valley View Builders will do the concrete work and the members of the organization will repair the bleachers.

The annual banquet will be held on the grounds on May 15 at noon for club members. More than 80 awards will be given out. The Royal Rangers from Everett will provide the chicken meal with sides. Children will assist in serving the meal.

The power reunion board group decided to have all insurance with the Teeter Group of Martinsburg, including all-inclusive liability for the kitchen and grounds.

C.A. Detwiler will have his lease extended for another five years. He leases 21 acres from the power reunion organization.

Banners are available to purchase for a business organization to support the power reunion activities. Also, the board is seeking donated product baskets for fundraising. Plow Day vendors for flea market and crafts are wanted. There is no fee for them.

The museum fund has a total of $4,036 and the Hometown bank account has a total of $34,677.

The next scheduled event is the Spring Plow Day and Tractor Show on April 17, 2021. The tractor pull will start at 4 p.m. and all are welcome. There is no fee for the public to attend. Contact Jessica Bothell at (814) 977-2561 for information.

The next regular scheduled meeting of the power reunion board is 6 p.m. May 6 for the board and 7 p.m. for members.
