Putting cows on the front page since 1885.
Springtime greetings from Hollidaysburg to all of you wonderful Morrisons Cove Herald readers! It is so great to be back at my post as a Hollidaysburg correspondent for the Herald and the Hollidaysburg Herald. COVID-19 precautions certainly continue, but being fully vaccinated (I am a card carrying member of the Pfizer fun club!), I can finally resume reporting to you about all the great events happening in the 'Burg.
Friday, April 16, was the first Third in the Burg event for 2021. Though the weather was not quite the springtime weather hoped for, it was doable. Several families and friends enjoyed extended shopping from 5 to 7 p.m. in a variety of shops on Allegheny Street near the Diamond.
Third in the Burg, held every third Friday in Hollidaysburg, is sponsored by the Hollidaysburg Area Community Partnership and organized by Handpicked Handmade Hollidaysburg. Handpicked is a fairly new organization of creative artists/merchants who are the driving force behind a renaissance in the 'Burg.
Key to this renaissance are Becky Holland, Lightning Bug Gift Company owner; Ashlie McMullin, Moonstruck Vintage Finds owner; Sarah Baumbach, Maker Studio owner; and Kerrie Kinzle, Finds Furniture Consignment owner. Becky, Ashlie and Sarah created Handpicked Handmade Hollidaysburg to grow their shared passion for art. Kerrie, whose shop has been a favorite mecca for shoppers on the Diamond for years, is the driving force behind the Hollidaysburg Area Community Partnership.
I recommend you save the date, May 21, to shop downtown Hollidaysburg into the evening for the next Third in the Burg.
But, why wait until May when the shops, studios and restaurants of Hollidaysburg have so much to offer?
The COVID-19 pandemic has not stopped these shop owners from fulfilling their dreams. It seems the challenge has only made them more determined to offer an inspiring experience to anyone who walks through their doors.
