Roaring Spring

Paul Martin Sands, 92, of rural Roaring Spring was called home suddenly to his savior, Sunday afternoon, April 25, 2021, at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring.

He was born March 25, 1929, in Smoketown, Lancaster County, son of the late William A. and Emma (Brooks) Sands. He married Helen M. Ranck April 7, 1950, in Paradise, Lancaster County.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years; two sons: Kenneth E. Sands of Shippensburg and Carl D. Sands (Jacqueline) of Albuquerque, N.M .; a daughter, Karen L. Lytle (John) of rural Roaring Spring; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Martha Miller (Harold) and Rose Good (Irvin); and a brother, William Sands (Reba).

He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Sands; a sister, Elma Stoltzfus; and three brothers: Amos, John and Richard Sands.

Paul owned and operated a farm in Coatesville for more than 50 years, before retiring to his home, now in rural Roaring Spring. He was a faithful member of Grace Bible Church, Hollidaysburg.

Paul loved the many years he worked on their farm and also enjoyed keeping busy around their home, which included planting flowers each spring. He was truly happiest when he was planning and tackling his next project.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Grace Bible Church, Hollidaysburg. Pastor Daren Ritchey and Dr. Woodrow Kroll will be officiating. Private interment will be held at Dry Hill Cemetery, Woodbury.
