The English language is incredible. Some of the ways to properly spell the words we use are unbelievable and there are so many exceptions to the rule. Without a good memory or much practice, proper spelling may very well elude us. Extraordinary, also, in the English language, is its use of homonyms, which is two or more words pronounced alike but spelled differently. Example: "Do you see the sea?"

Last week I came upon a saying that played with the usage of homonyms: "Patience is a virtue that carries a lot of weight." The little quip took for granted that we understood "weight" as "wait."...
