A Note Regarding the Bowers Obituary

The obituary for Thomas Emory Bowers printed in the May 6, 2021, edition of the Herald contained incorrect dates for the viewing and funeral.

We apologize for any errors and for any distress this caused the family.

The Herald gets information directly from funeral homes for obituaries. We have a small staff, which limits our ability for fact checking. We rely on the information provided from the funeral homes and publish that information exactly as provided to us.

However, if certain facts are wrong, we apologize and will do everything we can to make it right.

It would never be our intent to have incorrect information published in the Herald, especially in the obituary of a person who served in the United States Armed Services. We at the Herald value the service provided to our country from military service and respect those people who made the brave choice to serve.
