Bolger Opens Ball Season
June 3, 2021
Herald of June 1, 1921
The Blair County Baseball League opened the season with the first game at Roaring Spring between the “Baretown Nine,” representing Morrisons Cove, and the Altoona YMCA team. Biggest attraction for local fans was Martinsburg’s Herb Bolger. The premier hurler for the league was “on the slab” for Roaring Spring winners of the game with a 7 to 4 score.
Two parades were held in Williamsburg on Memorial Day: one in the morning by service organizations and the other by the Catholic and Protestant friends at the dedication of the new cemetery south of town.
