A traffic stop has led to drug charges against a Roaring Spring Man.
Kelton E. Ferry, 60, is facing multiple and felony and misdemeanor charges after a search of his vehicle allegedly turned up drugs and paraphernalia.
According to the charges filed by Roaring Spring police, Ferry was pulled over just after midnight on May 26 for not using his turn signal.
When an officer approached Ferry’s vehicle, he allegedly saw a glass pipe in plain view. Police said Ferry denied them permission to search the vehicle, so it was impounded until a search warrant was obtained.
Police said when they asked Ferry what they would find in the vehicle, he allegedly told them he didn’t know if anyone left anything in the car but that they may find “a little bit of weed.”
Police said the vehicle was registered to another party and Ferry had to contact its owner to produce proof of insurance and registration. Police released Ferry at the scene and had the vehicle towed.
After securing a search warrant, police said they found approximately 5.62 grams of marijuana, 3.176 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana roaches, ecstasy pills in a personal distribution bag, 1.55 grams of cocaine, THC wax in a bag, and two containers of THC crystals known as Crystalline.
Police said they also found marijuana pipes, some containing marijuana, two straws with white residue, a bag of mushrooms weighing approximately 4.536 grams, baggies stamped with black skulls and red ladybugs and self-seal bags labeled 4:20.
Police said they also found a clear baggy with white residue that tested positive for cocaine, butane torches, a marijuana grinder and rolling papers.
Several days after the search, police said Ferry called them and requested to come to the police station to talk. Ferry, police said, admitted that he knew the drugs and paraphernalia police found in the car were there although he previously told them he only knew about the marijuana.
An arrest warrant was issued for Ferry, and on June 2 he was brought before Martinsburg Magisterial District Judge Andrew Blattenberger for arraignment on felony charges of manufacture with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance, as well as misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
Ferry was released on $50,000 unsecured bond. He faces a preliminary hearing on June 24 in front of Blattenberger.
