Northern Bedford FFA Teams Place First and Second at States

A team consisting of Lauren Over, Lindsey Koontz, Lydia Byler, and Becca Shriver earned first place in the Meats Evaluation and Technology Career Development Event (CDE) held as part of the 2021 PA State FFA Convention.

The PA State FFA CDE was held virtually on May 27 and consisted of a written exam, retail cut ID, classes of meat cuts, meat formulation problems and bone and muscle ID. The team also swept individual placings of 1-4 with Lauren first, Lindsey second, Lydia third, and Becca fourth.

The team will now represent Pennsylvania at the 94th National FFA Convention and Expo to be held Oct 27-30 in Indianapolis.

The Northern Bedford FFA Milk Quality and Products team placed second in the PA State FFA Career Development Event held virtually May 20 as part of the State FFA competitions. Team members are Brooke Gochnour, Olivia Higgins, Jillian Morral, and Ashley Kichman. Brooke placed second individual overall and received a gold recognition.

Also competing in the Floriculture CDE on May 18 was a team consisting of Ella Gable, Montana Clapper, Megan Brazle, and Alexis Snare.

Northern Bedford FFA also fielded an FFA Knowledge team consisting of Brock Beach, Emma Byler, and Lindsey Bolinger.

FFA Activities Week is organized by the Pennsylvania FFA Association and includes Career Development Events, Leadership Development Events and business sessions of the PA FFA. All competitions were held virtually this year, but awards were presented at the PA FFA State Convention held at Tyrone High School on June 11 with over 800 members attending.
