Clinics Help Bring the Residents of Vet Homes, Family Back Together

Residents at Pennsylvania’s six veterans homes are safer and closer to their families and friends thanks to each home recently holding a COVID-19 vaccination clinic. The clinics were open to residents and staff who had not yet chosen to be vaccinated, as well as family members, visitors, volunteers and the public.

The veterans homes are operated by the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA).

The six clinics increased the overall vaccination rate for residents to over 95 percent, and the overall vaccination rate for staff to over 60 percent. Both statistics are higher than the most recent national averages.

The six homes and their locations are: the Delaware Valley Veterans’ Home in Philadelphia; the Gino J. Merli Veterans’ Center in Scranton, the Hollidaysburg Veterans’ Home in Hollidaysburg, the Pennsylvania Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home in Erie, the Southeastern Veterans’ Center in Spring City, and the Southwestern Veterans’ Center in Pittsburgh.
