RS Community Library Receives Grant from Operation Our Town

Operation Our Town recently reported in its monthly newsletter that Roaring Spring Community Library recently received a grant that allowed the library to start “Curiosity Creates Open Art Studio.”

The purpose of this project is to provide children with a safe place to express themselves using art. Curiosity Creates will also provide participants with an afternoon snack in partnership with Trinity United Methodist Church.

As reported in Operation Our Town’s August newsletter, the goals of Operations Our Town’s grant are as follows:

1. Make the library a destination of creativity where exploration and self-expression occur in a safe place.

2. A tech-free zone promoting child and caregiver engagement, as well as self-exploration.

3. The library is seen as a facilitator of creativity in the community.

This program is free to all participants.

According to the newsletter, Open Art is currently being offered every Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. through Aug. 18 in the form of “Open Art Day,” Sticker Stories, and Lunch Bunch.

Starting Sept. 13, Curiosity Creates Open Art Studio will be available anytime during the library’s business hours for kids to drop in and create.
