'Sharing My Story' to Kick Off Rally Day at First Church of the Brethren

Sharing by Church of the Brethren General Secretary David Steele will highlight the Roaring Spring First Church of the Brethren Rally Day celebration on Sunday, Sept. 12, during morning worship, beginning at 9:25 a.m.

Steele, who has served as the face of the Church of the Brethren Denomination since 2016, will be the featured presenter in the church’s new “Sharing My Story” personal walk with Jesus testimony. The event will help kick off a new church initiative of self-reflection, self-assessment and sharing how a relationship with Jesus has helped individuals successfully navigate the ebbs and flows of life. His appearance will be in addition to the usual Rally Day celebration launching a new Sunday School year with dedication of teachers and the presentation of Bibles to first and sixth graders.

A native of Martinsburg, Steele has served pastorates in California and Pennsylvania. He was District Executive of the Middle Pennsylvania District for over 10 years. He has also served the denomination in a number of leadership positions including National Youth Cabinet, representative to National Council of Churches and various other youth ministries.

A chicken barbecue in support of the church Youth effort to raise funds for their trip to National Youth Conference is also being planned for after the service. Tickets are $10 and can be obtained through the church office, the church welcome center, or members of the Christian Education Team. Space for fellowship and the meal will available in the Church Fellowship Hall beginning at 11:15 a.m. Takeout meals will also be available.

The Roaring Spring First Church of the Brethren is located at 901 Bloomfield St. in Roaring Spring. The office phone number is (814) 224-4113.
