After a recent call from a community member praising the "beautiful" new landscaping done at Spring Dam in Roaring Spring, the Herald reached out to Roaring Spring Borough Manager Lisa Peele.
Peele detailed the improvements made to the dam and named the people who made it possible.
"I had a vision, and this is exactly what I imagined," said Peele.
According to Peele, the spruce-up began with Claycomb Excavating cleaning up overgrown trees and shrubbery.
Roots in the Cove donated flowers for flower boxes.
Several community members made donations for the project, including James Musselman, who made flowerpots with donated lumber.
Borough employees sanded, stained, painted and attached the flower pots around the dam.
The railing was redone in black.
"It couldn't have been done without the borough council, the authority, and Dan Hoover," said Peele.
"When someone says 'Roaring Spring,' people think of the dam," said Peele, explaining the reason behind the beautification project.
"I think everybody deserves praise," said Peele.
