Heavy Rainfall Causes Flooding Once Again

Last week’s heavy rainfall from Hurricane Ida kept Cove area crews busy closing roads and pumping basements.

More than six inches of rain fell on the Cove Sept. 1, once again overwhelming storm drains and causing wide-spread flooding throughout the area.

In Freedom Township, Asst. Fire Chief James Lang said fire crews pumped water from at least 10 basements, working until almost midnight. Lang said other than a few small trees uprooted, no major damage was reported in the township.
